Chinese faith

Buddhism is a big religion in Medan. Most Buddhists are Chinese, and some are Indian and local ethnic. Their place of worship is called a temple and shrine. There are monks in the temples, and not in shrines. Shrines are more about Chinese customs. People worship deities in the shrines and Buddhas in the temples. Buddhism and Chinese customs are often mixed together. Buddhists usually eat vegetarian food on the first and fifteenth day of the month. They burn incense from the altar before praying. Some of them also throw moonblocks and question the spirit medium possessed by deities.
