Speak Hokkien with Hokkien people from other countries
I have never thought that the Hokkien language is so useful. Every time I meet anyone who can speak Hokkien, I will surely speak Hokkien. Several countries and territories have Hokkien people: Penang, Singapore, Manila, Taiwan, and Fujian. Some Hokkien people also live overseas. I had known those who live in America, Canada, and Japan.
The one they speak certainly differs from Hokkien in Medan. It is due to historical and geographical differences that there are certainly influences. I feel that the Penang and Singapore variants are more similar to the Medan variant. The rest is quite difficult to understand. However, it is still fine for talking about simple things. Talking about difficult topics would not be understood.
